Digital Arts (EA) has acquired Codemasters, the British online game studio recognized for video games like Operation Flashpoint and Grid, in a $1.2 billion deal. With this acquisition, EA has added its racing sport rival to its kitty. The studio behind the Want For Velocity, Actual Racing and Burnout franchise of racing video games, will now have video games like Grid, Filth, Undertaking Vehicles and others beneath its banner. EA introduced this through Twitter and its blogpost.

Sport franchises like Grid and Filth are seen as direct rivals of Want For Velocity. EA has mentioned that Codemasters will stay an unbiased group even after the acquisition.
