HYDERABAD: Appointment of vice-chancellors (VCs) to the state universities in Telangana is prone to be delayed by nearly a month because of the mannequin code of conduct imposed in view of legislative council elections within the state.

As per the Election Fee (EC) schedule, graduate MLC elections in Hyderabad-Rangareddy-Mahbubnagar and Warangal-Khammam-Nalgonda constituencies will happen on March 14, with the election procedures slated to conclude solely by March 22. In view of this, the VC appointments shall be postponed.

Official sources confirmed to TOI that the state authorities has not written any letter to the EC searching for exemption to nominate VCs for the state universities. Nonetheless, the Osmania College (OU) analysis students submitted a letter to the EC on Wednesday searching for exemption and going forward with the VC appointments. Analysis students argue that the method of VC appointment started a lot earlier than the election notification was issued.
