Filmmaker Shyam Benegal’s Bangabandhu, a biopic on Bangladesh’s founder Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, started capturing in Mumbai on Thursday.

The movie is collectively produced by India and Bangladesh and is a part of the centenary celebration of Rahman, the primary President of Bangladesh.

Bangabandhu was introduced by Union Minister for Data and Broadcasting Prakash Javadekar through the opening ceremony of the 51st Worldwide Movie Competition of India (IFFI), right here.

The Muhurat shoot of the biopic was held on the Movie Metropolis, following the COVID-19 protocols laid down by the Ministry of Data and Broadcasting, a press launch issued by the Press Data Bureau stated.

Bangladeshi movie and TV actor Arifin Shuvoo can be essaying the position of Rahman. Nusrat Imrose Tisha will painting the position of Rahman’s spouse, Sheikh Fazilatunnesa, whereas actor Nusraat Faria can be seen as his daughter Sheikh Hasina.

Writers Atul Tiwari and Shama Zaidi have penned the screenplay, with composer Shantanu Moitra connected to present the music.

The movie is being produced below the Audio Visible Co Manufacturing Settlement between India and Bangladesh.

The MoU for manufacturing of the movie was signed in January, final yr, between the Nationwide Movie Improvement Company (NFDC) and Bangladesh Movie Improvement Company (BFDC).

Taking pictures of the movie was earlier scheduled to start out in March final yr in Bangladesh. Because of the ongoing coronavirus pandemic, the primary section of filming will now happen for roughly 100 days at Movie Metropolis. The second section of capturing can be held in Bangladesh.
